Trip to Scotland
When: 4 days at the end of August 2007
Why: because I wanted to see where David Hume and Adam Smith lived and I also wanted to visit New Lanark, the place where the great Robert Owen started improving worker's conditions.

It is a great trip, with amazing landscapes and a lot to see.
Of course it is recommended to read Owen, Smith and Hume if one has to really enjoy this trip.

Itinerary: I flew from Forli to Stanstead, I rented a car and drove north on the M1, stopping briefly at Rutland Waters. I reached the beautiful village of Richmond in time for dinner, I slept in Willance House, a very good B&B that I recommend. Next morning I went on to Berwick, near the birthplace of David Hume, where I slept (and had an excellent dinner) at the Queens Head Pub. I then visited Holy Island (Lindisfarne) whose road is flooded with the high tide, and then I crossed Scotland headed for New Lanark, to visit Robert Owen's factory, now refurbished under the patronage of Unesco: a beautiful place to visit. Finally I went to Kirkcaldy, where adam Smith was born, and spent one day in the beautiful Edinburgh, one of the most fascinating places in the world, where I could visit the places of the great David Hume and Adam Smith.
